利用Mellor與Durbin(1975)所發展的一維空間,隨時間變化的風驅流模式來探討潮流運動所產生的紊流邊界層的垂直結構,本模式中假設渦黏係數與流速的垂直梯度有關,因此可以推算出比較接近實際流場的速度垂直剖面,對於單一週期的潮波,本模式推算之結果與假設渦黏係數為已知,且不隨時間變化的模式預測的結果相似,但對於混合潮型、數值模式之結果顯示它並非直接由半日潮與全日潮之結果線性疊加而得,每一個分潮都因另一分潮所產生亂流場之影響而受到更強的摩擦作用,由於摩擦效應,海底附近的潮流相位領先邊界層外的海流,因此當潮流轉向時,底部摩擦應力的方向可能會與垂直平均海流的方向相反,因此在探討潮波在水平方向傳播時,無法假設線性摩擦律來模擬底部摩擦,除非容許摩擦係數隨潮汐週期變動。本模式之結果亦用來和基隆外海實測海流資料相比較,觀測到的底部海流梯度與模式推算結果頗為一致。
The time-dependent, one dimensional model of the ocean surface mixed layer is extended to study the vertical structure of turbulent boundary layer associated with tidal waves. This model uses an eddy viscosity coefficient which depends on the vertical velocity shear. A more realistic velocity profile can be obtained. For a single tidal constituent, the model result shows that the clockwise rotating component is more easily damped than the counter-clockwise rotating component. This is consistent with the result of linear, time-independence, eddy viscosity model. The effect of the time-dependence of eddy viscosity can be seen from the result of the mixed tide showing that it is not the superposition of the solutions for the semi-diurnal and diurnal constituent. In the case of mixed tides, each tidal component is subject to a stronger friction due to the turbulence associated with the other component. Because the phase of the bottom current leads the current outside the boundary layer, the drag coefficient may vary with the tidal period if we use the linear drag law to parametrize the bottom friction effect. We also compare the model result with the current meter measurements in the offshore region of Keelung. The observed bottom velocity shear can be explained quite well from the model result. The computed strength of bottom eddy viscosity varies from 600 cm2/s (during spring tide) to 200 cm2/s (during neap tide).
